Frequently Asked Questions

Your next match is always displayed on your dashboard when you log in. You'll also receive email and/or text reminders 24 hours before each match. Check the Schedule page for your complete season schedule, and consider adding matches to your personal calendar using the "Add to Calendar" feature.

Contact your team captain as soon as you know you'll miss a match. Most teams have alternate players who can substitute. The earlier you notify your captain, the better chance they have to arrange a replacement. Repeated absences without notice may affect your standing with the team.

If you have a GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) number, your official USGA handicap is used and updates automatically. If you don't have a GHIN, you provide an estimated handicap during registration. The league may adjust your handicap based on your performance throughout the season to ensure fair competition.

Bring your golf clubs, golf balls, tees, and any personal items you need. Most importantly, bring your charged smartphone to enter scores using the mobile scorecard. It's also recommended to bring a paper scorecard and pencil as backup, plenty of water, sunscreen, and rain gear if weather looks iffy. Check the course dress code requirements on the Courses page.

In match play, you compete hole-by-hole against your opponent. The player with the lower NET score on each hole wins that hole. The match status shows how many holes you're "up" or "down." The match ends when one player is ahead by more holes than remain to be played (e.g., "3 & 2" means 3 holes up with 2 holes remaining). If tied after 18 holes, the match is halved.

Absolutely! NTMGL welcomes golfers of all skill levels. The handicap system ensures fair competition regardless of ability. Whether you're a scratch golfer or a 25 handicap, you'll have competitive matches. The league is as much about camaraderie and enjoying the game as it is about competition. Many players find it helps them improve their game!

Check the website's weather widget on match day morning. If severe weather is expected, league management will post an announcement about delays or cancellations. You'll receive notifications via your preferred method (email, text, app notification). Matches are typically rescheduled to the next available date. Always check for updates before heading to the course.

You can register as a team captain during the registration period. Captains have additional responsibilities including roster management, lineup submission, and team communication. If you're interested in being a captain for next season, contact league management. Existing players can also volunteer to become captains if their current captain steps down.

Yes! The top teams based on regular season standings qualify for playoffs. The exact number depends on league size (typically top 4-8 teams). Playoff format is single-elimination match play. Check the Standings page to see your team's playoff status throughout the season. The championship match determines the season champion.

Generally, no. Players commit to a team for the entire season to maintain competitive balance and team chemistry. In rare circumstances (like moving out of the area or significant schedule conflicts), contact league management to discuss options. Team changes are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and require approval from both team captains and league management.
