Our Vision
The National Team Matchplay Golf League (NTMGL) introduces a revolutionary format to the world of golf, emphasizing team competition, strategic play, and season-long engagement. Founded in 2025, the NTMGL brings together the finest golf clubs and players across the country in an exciting team-based competition that captures the essence of matchplay golf.
Our mission is to elevate team golf competition to the national stage, creating meaningful rivalries, showcasing tactical excellence, and providing a platform where teamwork is as important as individual brilliance.
Team Format
Each team consists of 4 to 12 players. Teams compete in head-to-head matchups where individual matches contribute to an overall team score, fostering both individual excellence and team spirit.
Individual Matchplay Excellence
The NTMGL celebrates the excitement of match play golf, where every hole matters and momentum can shift in an instant. This format rewards strategic thinking, adaptability, and clutch performance.
Season-Long Journey
Regular Season
The NTMGL regular season runs from April through September, with teams competing in bi-weekly matches. Each match consists of 4 to 12 individual match play contests, with players earning points for their team based on match outcomes.
Teams receive 1 point for each hole won by their player. The cumulative season standings determine playoff qualification and seeding.
Match Format
Each team sets a line up for days matches
- Singles Matches: 4 to 12 individual match play contests
Teams earn 1 point for each hole won by their player and 0 points for halved holes. The team with the most points at the end of all 4 to 12 matches wins the overall contest.
Playoffs & Championship
The top 8 teams from the regular season advance to the NTMGL Playoffs, a three-week knockout competition:
- Quarterfinals: 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 seeding matchups
- Semifinals: Winners advance to determine Championship finalists
- Championship Finals: A prestigious event to crown the NTMGL Champion

Frequently Asked Questions
How are teams formed?
Teams are formed by a core group of 4-6 players. This can be friends or regular playing partners. If you are an individual, you can join as a free agent and a team can invite you to play for them. For More Information
Can players be replaced during the season?
Teams can make up to two roster changes during the regular season using their designated alternates. Additional changes may be permitted in case of significant injury or other extenuating circumstances. Rosters will be locked by the start of the final season match.
How are handicaps handled?
The NTMGL uses handicaps to even out each match. Each player must have an established handicap index through an authorized golf association. Players that do not have one will play as a 0 handicap. For More Information
